Facelift Photos - Case #3969

47 year old female, nonsmoker who wished to have a mini-facelift to refresh her neck contour and enhance her jawline. As her contour had only slight evidence of platysma banding and skin laxity, the decision was to choose a mini-face lift with SMAS plication only. The incision was a shortened incision which extended from just above her ear and ended just behind her ear lobe. Skin undermining was limited to where the SMAS layer could be accessed adequately. The SMAS plication was performed in a superior and vertical vector while the skin was advanced in a vertical vector only. This dual vectoring allows maximal rejuvenation by enhancing volume to the midface and smoothing of the jawline. The tightening of the SMAS smoothes and flattens the platysmal bands. The patient photos after her mini-facelift were taken 1 month after surgery and show an improved neck contour with a sharper neck angle and minimization of her platysmal bands. Her jawline is enhanced and projects a youthful, strong, athletic appearance. The patient is very pleased with the results of her mini-facelift.
