What Is Juvederm?

Juvederm is a family of dermal filler products composed of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid, or HA, occurs naturally in the body but depletes as we age, resulting in age lines, wrinkles, and loss of volume. It is injected strategically into specific areas of the face to improve their appearance.

Every Juvederm product is FDA-approved to target specific parts of the face. We provide Juvederm Voluma, which is used to address sunken cheeks, and Juvederm Ultra XC, which is primarily used for non-surgical lip augmentation. Ultra XC can also be injected to reduce the appearance of lipstick lines around the mouth.

Am I a Good Candidate for Juvederm Fillers?

You are a good candidate for Juvederm Voluma or Ultra XC if you are 21 years of age or older. This treatment may not be recommended for you if you have have experienced anaphylactic reactions. Patients with a history of allergies to gram-positive bacteria are not good candidates for Juvederm fillers.

Your Consultation

In order to find the best Juvederm injectable fillers for you, a consultation with Dr. Jeffrey Darrow is essential. You and Dr. Darrow will discuss your cosmetic needs and goals to ensure that the procedure is right for you.

A physical examination of the treatment areas will be performed. A review of your medical history, including current medications and past treatments, will be conducted to assess risk factors. The right Juvederm products will be recommended to achieve the best results.

The Procedure

The first step in a Juvederm treatment is cleansing the target areas. Next, the injection sites will be marked as a guide. Juvederm will be injected into the treatment area. Because Juvederm fillers contain a local anesthetic to ensure patient comfort, there will be no need to inject local anesthesia separately.

A light massage will be done to even out the distribution of the filler under the skin. Depending on the number of target areas, the whole procedure can take 15 to 60 minutes.

After Your Treatment Session

Recovery/downtime after a Juvederm treatment is minimal. Minor swelling and bruising may be experienced but should disappear in a few weeks. It is normal to find lumps or bumps in the treated areas, but these will subside over time.

Keep the sites clean, and avoid touching your face until the filler has settled in. You may resume your strenuous activities 48 hours after your procedure.

How Much Does Juvederm Cost?

The cost of Juvederm products is influenced by the personalized treatment plan developed during the consultation. The overall price may be affected by the number of injections and the types of Juvederm products being used to achieve the desired outcome.
