Non-Surgical Procedures Boston
Plastic surgery may not be right for you, or you may not be ready for a surgical solution for your face and body. Dr. Darrow and his practice offer injectables, chemical peels, and other non-surgical procedures in Boston to help you restore the look and feel of your skin. These minimally invasive and non-invasive techniques are used to provide subtle improvements with little to no downtime.
Types of Injectables and Fillers:
Botox® is a non-surgical, physician-administered aesthetic treatment for moderate to severe frown lines between the brows. BOTOX Cosmetic is used with people ages 18 to 65 and works by reducing the contractions of the muscles that cause frown lines. As certain emotions are expressed, facial muscles contract and cause a pleating of the overlying skin. When the pleating occurs over a period of time, the lines become more permanent. Treatment with BOTOX® can visibly soften and smooth those frown lines. Improvement can be seen within days and last for up to four months. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of men and women surveyed rated the improvement of the appearance of frown lines between their brows as moderate to better one month after treatment.
Hyaluronic Acid (such as Restylane® and Juvederm®) is a natural substance found in our bodies. It is well suited to plump thin lips and fills facial creases such as nasolabial folds. It may also be appropriate for some surface wrinkles and concave scars. The results may last 6 months or longer.
Human fat, harvested from your own body, can be reinjected to enhance facial fullness, fill deep creases and build up shallow contours. Fat injection requires a more extensive procedure than other injectable fillers because it uses liposuction techniques to extract the fat prior to injection.
Additional Non-Surgical Procedures
While the effects of injectable therapies can be incredible, they are far from our only non-surgical treatment options. Depending on your particular objectives and current symptoms, we may offer one or more of these procedures instead of (or in addition to) injectables:
- Chemical micro peels: A chemical solution (typically trichloroacetic acid or alpha hydroxy acid) is applied to the skin, exfoliating the top layer (epidermis) and stimulating the production of a new one for rejuvenating results.
- Dermabrasion: A small tool is gently moved across the skin to reduce or remove blemishes and other surface irregularities.
- Retin-A treatments: This Vitamin A topical cream is designed to repair minor wrinkles and sun damage. It is often used in conjunction with a chemical peel.
